Fairlands, nestled along avenues with established trees happens to be one of Joburg's best-kept secrets. With easy access to major highway arterials this safe suburb still sees kids on bicycles enjoying the many open spaces. Not only is it a well-established area, it’s close to good schools, sports facilities, restaurant and shopping centres. It’s one of few places in Joburg where families still frequent parks and enjoy an outdoor lifestyle. If you are looking for the best of all worlds then the Fairlands will be for you.
Blairgowrie, the suburb that developed as the suburb of Johannesburg expanded, in the north, during the gold rush of yester year to accommodate the new established gold mine workers. Blairgowrie is slightly younger than Randburg yet it is obvious that the suburb did not follow long after this, making it a well-established suburb. It is a suburb of Randburg and is by affiliation also an up market suburb with a mixed use. The up market tag comes from the architecture which is a mixture of conventional and current modern designs; and the homes are generally displayed against the “all too familiar” Highveld gardens which flourish amongst the soils.
The location of the suburb is a positive factor in adding to the demand in residential property, as the major roads leading to schools, commercial, retail hubs and other suburbs in Johannesburg. Schools in the region are sought after for their academic acclaim and also for the good participation in outdoor sport activities. There also well-known malls close to Blairgowrie and major routes, making traveling easy and convenient. Neighbouring suburbs to Blairgowrie are Bordeaux, Ferndale and Pine Park.
